New emission reduction technology

Echo-Clear is the name for the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) manufactured in Australia by ATZ Chemicals since 2010 to meet the demand of the industry and the environment. In 2010 the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) actioned a plan to reduce nitrous oxide levels in new trucks to almost zero. The technology they nominated in their plan was Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) which uses Diesel Exhaust Fluid.

What is SCR?

Selective Catalytic Reduction Technology is the emission reduction technology using diesel exhaust fluid to deliver near zero emissions of nitrous oxide (NOx) which contribute to acid rain, smog and is a harmful greenhouse gas.

SCR systems reduce NOx emissions to a minimum level while at the same time improving fuel consumption and reliability. SCR systems do not change the way your engine works it is an after treatment operating within the exhaust system of your vehicle.

SCR works by injecting Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) into the exhaust stream which reacts with the NOx and the catalyst leaving behind Nitrogen and Water Vapour which is safer for yourself and the environment.


What is DEF?

Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) also known as ADBlue™ or AUS32 is an aqueous urea solution containing up to 32.5% Special grade urea and 67.5% Deionized water. DEF has to meet ISO Standards 22241 for purity, by using DEF that is not in accordance with these standards could cause costly damage to your SCR System and your exhaust system.

We test each batch before it is sent to our customers to make sure that it meets the ISO Standards for purity and effectiveness, we also have independent tests carried out to ensure that Echo-Clear is free from impurities and contaminants.
